Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until lukewarm. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center; add melted butter, eggs, and the frothy yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle about half an inch thick. Spread melted butter over the surface and sprinkle with sugar mixed with cinnamon and nuts if using.
  5. Cut into strips or squares and layer in a greased baking dish. Let rise for another half hour while preheating the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown. Enjoy warm drizzled with melted butter.
