Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm milk with yeast and a teaspoon of sugar; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, salt, and softened butter. Add the yeast mixture and stir until blended.
  3. Gradually add more flour until you form a soft dough. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl and let it rise in a warm area for about an hour or until doubled in size.
