  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz dark chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, espresso powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and mix in buttermilk and melted butter until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool for ten minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  6. For the ganache, heat heavy cream until simmering; pour over chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  7. Once cakes are cool, layer with ganache in between and on top.
