For the Cream Sauce

  • 4 cups Fresh Corn or frozen corn
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream can swap for half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons Butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons Flour can use gluten-free flour
  • to taste Salt season generously
  • to taste Pepper season generously

For the Topping

  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese sharp cheddar preferred
  • Optional Toppings breadcrumbs with Parmesan, fresh herbs

How to Make Steakhouse Creamed Corn

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Husk the fresh corn and cut the kernels off.
  • Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in the flour for 1 minute.
  • Gradually pour in the heavy cream, whisking until thickened and bubbly.
  • Remove from heat, stir in corn and half of the cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top.
  • Bake for 30 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider broiling the dish for a few minutes at the end. This dish can also be made ahead of time.
