Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs sweet potatoes 2 medium, about 680g
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • --- For Savory ---
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • --- For Sweet ---
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup for finishing, optional

Instructions

  • Wash and dry the sweet potatoes. Peel if desired, then cut into uniform 3/4-inch cubes.
  • In a medium bowl, add the sweet potato cubes, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • For a savory version, add garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder. For a sweet version, add cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss until the potatoes are evenly coated.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) if your model requires it.
  • Place the sweet potato cubes in the air fryer basket in a single, even layer. You may need to cook in two batches to avoid overcrowding.
  • Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through the cooking time.
  • The potatoes are done when they are tender when pierced with a fork and have slightly crisped edges.
  • If making the sweet version, you can drizzle the maple syrup over the potatoes during the last 2 minutes of cooking.
  • Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

For the best texture, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary.
Cutting the potatoes into similar-sized pieces helps them cook evenly.
These are best served fresh, as they will lose their crispness upon standing.
